What is ZLab?
ZLab is a puzzle platformer for Playdate. Every room is a box of blocks. Seen flat, a block at any depth is in your way. Turn the crank and the room folds open into 3D, and that wall may only fill one lane.
Fold it flat again and the gaps at the front close over. 45 rooms across seven sets add one idea at a time: crates that drop when their 2D bridge opens up in 3D, plates that flip gates, phase blocks that exist in only one view, security bugs on patrol, and rooms with a third, side-on view.
How to play
- Find the exit
Each room has one exit door. Collect every key and the door opens.
- Turn the crank
Turn the crank about 25 degrees to fold the room from flat into 3D. Turn it back to fold it flat again.
- Walk around it
In 3D the D-pad also moves you into the room, lane by lane. A wall that blocks you flat may only fill one lane.
- Fold flat to cross
Seen flat, a block at any depth holds you up, so gaps at the front close over. The room will not fold flat onto you.
- Push, press, dodge
Crates slide one cell at a time and fall with nothing under them. Plates flip gates. Touch a security bug and the room resets.
- Start over
Press B to reset the room at any time.
